BIBLE COLLEGE

“Church history is the story of the greatest community the world has ever known and the greatest movement in world history. It is a human story of a divinely called people who wanted to live by a divine revelation. These are people who have struggled with the meaning of the greatest event in history, the coming of the Son of God.”
– Everett Ferguson

In this course Steve Johnstone will lead you through one of the most exciting stories of all human history, seeing how Jesus built His church through 1500 tumultuous years. We will begin our journey at Pentecost, visiting the primitive church in its first three centuries, travel through her persecutions in Rome, watch her confront the major heresies which threatened her existence, witness the rise of the Roman Catholic church, draw aside with monks like St Patrick and St Francis of Assisi, meet some of the greatest Christian leaders of all time, like Athanasius, Augustine and Chrysostom, lament the abysmal state of the church in the middle ages, until we finally arrive as the flames rise from the body of Jan Huss and we hear the first rumblings of the Reformation.
